The American Institute of Architects (AIA) has informed the AIA Space Coast component that it has achieved a three-year term accreditation in effect through May 1, 2019. As stated in a letter to AIA Space Coast, achieving accreditation demonstrates the component’s commitment to excellence in providing quality service for its members and communities served and that the component meets the core standards of service criteria established by the AIA.
The core member services established by the AIA are organized into the following categories:
- Member Communications
- Education
- Advocate
- Elevate Public Awareness
- Governance
- Membership
- Finances & General Operations
All AIA components–regional, state, and local (including Associations, Chapters, and Sections)–were required to submit an accreditation application through an online assessment process. The process required uploading of documents to serve as evidence of compliance for the core member services criteria. Components that met all criteria received a three-year accreditation. Components that fell short of some criteria received a one-year accreditation and will be re-assessed next year. Of the 235 components that were assessed, 69% (163) achieved a three-year accreditation and 31% (72) received a one-year accreditation.
