Alice Schultz, AIA, NCARB, CPMP, LEED AP BD+C, has accepted a nomination as candidate for AIA Florida Vice President, a 2-year-term position that begins January 2016. Ms. Schultz, who most recently served as the AIA Space Coast chapter president in 2014 and has also served in a number of other chapter board positions including Secretary, Vice President, and State Director, has been an enthusiastic advocate of advancing the AIA Space Coast architectural community.
Ms. Schultz has long worked closely with AIA Florida to represent the Space Coast chapter, along the way continually building knowledge and developing collaborative relationships with the state level network. She credits this experience for prompting her nomination. “I feel a real privilege in being considered for this service. And I welcome any advice or encouragement, along with constructive criticism, that you may offer me for this adventure.”
Ms. Schultz’s role in service to the AIA, in her view, is to:
- Educate legislators and the public of the capabilities, talents, and value of our Florida architects;
- Encourage architects and associates toward good stewardship of resources, and to help them find and lift their voices;
- Enable AIA Florida to continue unparalleled support for our profession; and
- Empower others to discover their mission.

Alice is also grateful for the support and encouragement she has received from the Space Coast chapter and AIA Florida and looks forward to continuing her service to both as a professional architect and a citizen architect. Elections will take place on July 30 during the annual meeting at the AIA Florida Convention at the Boca Resort and Club in Boca Raton. Candidates for elected positions will each have three minutes to speak.
